Summer has ended, which means that our Instagram feed will no longer be full of toes in the sand, airplane wings and beach selfies. Naturally, it may seem that all the fun time is over and for many people this contributes to the feeling of bitterness and sadness. The good news, Autumn is where all the magic happens and there are so many things to look forward to! Here are our tips to beat end of summer blues:
1. Make a list
Think of it as a bucket list for the season. Instead of letting yourself be overwhelmed with work and cold weather, make a plan and enjoy your free time to the fullest. The list can be endless: go apple picking and bake a delicious apple pie, take the walk through your favourite park, visit an Autumn festival, go halloween costume shopping, or simply organise a weekend getaway for your family or your loved one. Having a list of things you want to do will give you something to look forward to and keep you positive.
2. Clean your closet
This one is very liberating, trust me. Go through your wardrobe and finally get rid off the clothes you have not worn in years. You can always sell some things on online selling apps such as Depop or give your clothes to the charity. Getting rid of unwanted clothes is also a great excuse for some retail therapy! Go and buy a lovely coat or super cozy sweaters that will keep you warm in the cold months ahead.
3. Plan a fresh start
Think of it as the fresh start in your life. Its an opportunity for you to set your goals and stick to them. Whether it’s going to the gym on a regular basis, working hard for the promotion you so badly want or simply little things like consistently leaving yourself enough time to read a book everyday. It doesn’t have to be a big goal or a big change, it’s all about being consistent with it. It will benefit you in the long run, plus will take your mind off end of summer blues.
4. Enjoy the ‘Staycation’.
We live in a stressful environment and very often we do not know how to manage it. Staycation is a perfect way to relax and escape the world. It is like a vacation, but at the comfort of your home. Spend the day pampering yourself, turn off your phone and have a TV marathon (as it is cold outside, there are plenty of new TV shows to binge on). You will totally forget about the fact that summer is over.
5. Reinforce positive thinking.
Even if it is raining outside, it is not a reason to feel those end of summer blues. Try and see the positives in every situation. Miserable weather? Go to the cinema. Feel stressed or upset? Meditate or take a yoga class. A positive attitude will lead to positive outcome.
So here they are; our tips to beat end of summer blues! At Skin Woof we believe that positivity is key and that you should always make the best out of any situation. So, enjoy the cosy nights in, pumpkin lattes and don’t forget to smile!
